Anyone interested in trying a largest trap competition on here. Seems like it could be a fun way to share some plant pictures.

Sounds fun. Tis the season for giant traps. My B-52's are making a few 1.75" traps this year (already caught a big hornet and digested it like a champ, try that with a "typical") It is still young though and should be capable of 2" traps in another year or two especially after I split off all the crowding divisions next spring and give the mother plant room to grow on her own.

I think this could be a fun way to show off plants, but perception can be distorted in pictures very easily. I seen a pic the other day a guy claimed his trap was 2", and posted a pic of it being measured. But the tape was off on both ends by a 1/4", meaning it was only an inch and a half trap. Not two like he claimed.

My suggestion for measuring would be to put the ruler in the trap. Some food could go in along with it, so the trap would be closed around food when the ruler was pulled out, and that seems like the best way to show scale in a photo.

It's too easy to cheat with rulers or photoshop. This Pinnacle is currently putting out the largest traps for me. Maybe Redline or SL 15 will give it a run for the money this Fall. All of my giants are in full flower now.

B52 and DC-XL are pretty much tied from my experience with the largest traps - consistently through out the year. DC-XL, I will say, has had the largest traps I have grown. :D

Here are a few angles so you can tell this was a legit giant trap!
