Hi everybody!
I just wanted to share how I grow Live Sphagnum moss in a small space.
I is growing in a 10" plastic soccer with a hole in the bottom for drainage.
It is placed in a 12" soccer so it can sit in water.
And the light is 4-5 inches above the moss, The light bulb is a compact florescent bulb equivalent to 100 watts.
I noticed that the moss fluctuates with the water levels.(I looks beter some days than others)

Here are some pictures !

I put peat moss on the bottom, and then chopped up some live sphagnum and put it on top !
I think it took about 3 months to get what you see in the pictures.

I never found a solution for reviving sphagnum moss on this forum.

Sometimes you can get some to sprout by keeping dead sphagnum wet. It will still have spores or whatever it grows from in it. I've heard the same of sphagnum peat, but haven't experienced it.

Yes it is true, my first sphagnum came that way, before I knew we had it growing in some places here and I went to get a little square, then I now grow it on trays, the same for the watering of the CPs, full sun.

I personally think that good quality LFS can always be brought back to life. I have never fertilized my sphag, but keeping it constantly moist will certainly bring it back to life. I use New Zealand LFS if that makes any difference. Plant man is growing it correctly as well. Only recommendation would be to purchase another clear saucer that is the exact same one you are using, but you actually put it upside down on the top of the one being used as a water tray. It keeps it extra humid and will prevent the tips of your sphagnum from drying out faster.

I can tell you that there is no hope for bringing back to life certain store bought LFS depending on the sterilization procedure used. Now if you personally dry out live sphagnum accidentally, then yes there is still lots of hope.

I can prove also, that I collected some moss in august last year, and kept it inside a white bag with a knot, kind of dry, because I wanted to use it as dead one, but this january I planted it because it was still green!, and it is sprouting everywhere.
