I plan on buying some nepenthes seed. I have never sprouted any nepenthes by seed. Can anybody tell me how to start.

Ive germinated a few hundred Nepenthes seeds this year, of about 15 different species (all lowland and intermediate). All I did was sprinkled the seeds on top of 100% spaghnum peat moss. I kept the soil wet but not water logged 24/7 and kept the humidity between 80% and 100% consistently. The seeds were kept around 70F at night, around 90F during the day as well, under bright flourescent lights (14" beneath lights, 6500K, 75 CRI, 3050 Lumens). Some germinated within 2 weeks, while others are still germinating 2 months after being sown so the amount of time taken to germinate seems to be variable depending upon species and (probably) amount of time since harvested. All of my seeds were fresh, as in only 1 - 3 months from harvest to sowing. I did not pre-treat any of the seeds, just tossed them in the pots.

So in a nutshell, I germinated them the exact same way I've germinated VFTs AND tropical Drosera. So any stories people may have told you about them being difficult are most likely coming from people who did not obtain fresh seeds. Fresh seeds = as easy to germinate as any other CP. Old seed = low % of germination, possibly prolonged germination as well. Hope this helps!
