Ok, I know it is redundant through your eyes, this subject.

But HOW do YOU guys manage to.
A. Give the plants maximum grow light exposure
B. And NOT burn your live moss.

I must me missing something.

I got my t5s 12 inches above

Its not humidity issue for the brown tips are, in fact, just as wet as the rest, smaller, unburnt growth points.
and if it was a water issue, they would have white tips opposed to brown

What am I missing..

How can you keep your top live moss sexy?

What would you guys recommend height wise.

Airflow (probably most important), and ensuring that the moss is tightly clumped, also NOT waterlogged. Allow it to dry ever so slightly before misting again. ImageImage

The ceiling fan is on 24/7 on second lowest setting.

And on the clumping together part, I did try that.

I cut half of my sphagnum tray and pushed it all down till it was nice and full, about a week ago I did that.

Would you out rule out burning?

I haven't found excessive light to burn moss, but it can dry the moss out more quickly, resulting in much greater difficulty keeping the water level correct for good moss growth. I will agree that keeping the moss clumped together is very important, as it greatly reduces the rate at which the moss dries out. I have Sphagnum growing in Nepenthes pots that only get watered every 3 days at ~40% humidity and it's very healthy simply because it's clumped.

Looking at your picture, am I correct that you only have 3 single T5 tubes for your plants? I'm very surprised that's enough light for butterworts and should definitely not cause a problem for the moss.

Correct, your lights shouldn't cause a problem.

I have my plants (and in turn moss) in a plastic greenhouse shelf thing from amazon. There are 3 120mm fans and a big fan on the lower level that comes on once every two hours to bring new air in (during the day I leave the tent open a little). I have a high-powered mars hydro above the enclosure that runs from sunrise to sunset. Humidity is a constant 83-85% with an increase at night.

Hmm, well. I am going with the "clumpness"

As my problem/solution I guess.
God I want my moss to grow like yours nim, at least the structure. Where did you get it ?

Lastly, the water logged part, think I should put some perlite I tray, then moss?

Do you mean tannerm? He's the one who posted pictures of his moss and it certainly looks nicer than mine. I've got some decent moss growing myself though that came with the plants.

I got mine on ebay, the red stuff I got from that carnivorous plant nursery site.

You don't need perlite. Just make sure the tray dries fully out occasionally and airflow is good. Check out this batch I have going (have harvested from it a number of times for top dressing)

Just in straight plastic container with drainage holes.

Looks good, maybe a little too wet? I'm by no means an expert. I just know what works for mine.

LEDs provide more of the spectrum that encourages growth and bloom. I've found it often times promotes red in neps/other plants, and it really does with the red sphagnum species.
