So ..... I went against Matt's advice of NOT repotting heli. I did and divided them. Both are doing well

Note--- burnt tips are from me having light too close, learnt my lesson.
The new pitchers remind me of a futuristic citadel or something along those lines haha.

btw. There both potted in strictly lfsm and I flush them with cold RO water every 4 days

And get 1/4th max sea sprayed bi weekly.

Good idea, I may try that soon. I will have to find a source for a large-ish order of the live sphag. I have mine in sphagnum and perlite but recently they dried out a bit (I went at least 3 weeks without watering them). I didn't think it would happen though since i have them in a sealed container with lots of condensation, but I guess it still kept evaporating out of the soil...maybe because they are near the top of the grow chamber right by the lights.

What's your humidity? Your nectar spoons aren't developing

That would be because of low lighting, humidity in my opinion does not affect the spoons as much as the lighting. If his old nectar spoons got burnt that would mean it was too close and the heat burnt them. My question is what kind of lighting are you using Bhart90?

how do you keep the sphag moist while you only water once every 4 days?

i keep my heliamphora in a mixture of peat/sand/sphag with a top layer of living sphag, but even at 90% humidity it still dries out every day. while the peat/sand mix stays moist for around a week or sometimes even more after getting water, i would need to spray the top layer of sphag every day to keep it from drying out.

My lighting is two t5 7 inches above, and I have metallic, reflective material around.

To elaborate watering....
M every day I go in this grow room, kind of taken my life haha, I mist everything while I'm in there, I flood it weekly to ensure nothing is staying stagnant.
Humidity is 66 ish
You don't think it's just because of size of pitchers doesn't corrolate with nectar spoon developing?

I agree that the lack of nectar spoons is probably a light issue. Once I got better lighting for mine they started getting nice red spoons. I know some of your pitchers burned from the lighting, but it might be a sudden change in environment, or maybe you just have to hit that "sweet spot" where they are getting enough light but not burning.
I don't think it has to do with pitcher size. Once they get adult pitchers there should be spoons. My H. minor is about 3 inches from my cfl bulb.

No, the burnt tips was from lighting.

In order to have reflective edges for my bulbs, I had to remove plastic cover over bulbs to slide reflectors in place, and I kept the plants like 3 inches above it. It was my fault for that.

This is going to be tough getting moooooore lights. I have strictly t5 strip all over my grow room, I'd see it out of place if I were to buy an entire different setup, you know?

I liked the t5s because it's dirt cheap on the bill. Under 6 dollars a month and I have 10, 11?
Wolf, what's yours look like?

You are right, 3" most likely caused the tips to burn. But what we are trying to say is the spoons are under developed. This is most likely caused by not enough light waves. In my opinion two t5's are not nearly enough lighting just because the light is distributed all over the bulb even with reflectors. So the surface area your helis are receiving is a small portion of those two T5's. If that makes any sense.

I have read that small nectar spoons can be caused by low humidity. There was a recent discussion about it on one of the forums with comparison photos. I can't remember which forum but with a little searching I'm sure it can be found.
