So there was a mini drought and of course my plants started drying. I watered them again until the soil was soaked. BUT, the largest didn't survive! The other 2 are doing fine, though one of them isn't sharing his minerals. Why? 4 long roots. They were black, though (is this the cause?) Drained container. Made a flower stalk 4 or 5 times but only flowered 1 time. Species drosera burmannii

Black roots are normal. Since D. burmannii is an annual species, it will die when conditions become unfavorable. rather than attempting to go dormant like many species might. Just make sure you collect some seed so you can keep the plants going.
