My Dionaea Muscipula is still very new, and therefore not as impressive as most of the others on the forum. Beings that he is my only plant and the only camera I have is on my phone, I knew I wasn't going to get a "National Geographic" result.... SO I decided to improvise ;)....
Photo: "Venus Envy" starring Jabber Jaws, Winky, & Hermione.
Camera: Photo was taken with my Motorola Android phone.
Date taken: 8/9/2010
Location: California, USA
Plant: Dionaea Muscipula

Taken: Yesterday with my HTC Hero, tap to focus.
Plant: Sharks Tooth had for over a year

Explanation of ''Two Of a Kind''
-Sharks Tooth plants have thicker 'crests' than other VFTs, and therefore matches up with my 'Crested' Gecko.
-They also both consume insects :D
Thanks!

Species: Dionaea Muscipula
Plant's name: Mr. Edgar Jaws

Explanation: This is my first of two VFT's. He's grown quite a bit in the past 3 months. In this photo I contrasted the life and death struggle. The fly is a recent capture of Mr. Edgar Jaws, and currently the fly is attempting to mount an escape. Even has that fly fights for his life, in the back ground the 10 inch flower stalk continues to spiral up towards the sun as another trap is dead at the base, and a new trap is beginning to form to the right (the sun wasn't out today).

While a typical VFT may not be ultra-impressive, I'm proud of the progress my plant and myself have made as we share our lives together.

Well, here is my picture. its the first time i join a photo contest and i hope you all like it !
Image
Im from Argentina, Buenos Aires here as you may know its winter and it seems that this Drosera capensis ´broad leaves´ doesnt care too much and started developing its flower stalk. the photography... i took it in the past month on a really cold morning. the plant must be a year and a half old or maybe more i dont remember well.. but its totally mine, grown by seed. oh and i have it outside, on full sun, and the only thing that protects it from the frost it´s some plastic that i put over the plants during the cold nights.

OK... to begin: This photo was not doctored or set up. I did NOT feed the traps the daddy long-legs.

Upon waking up last week, I found one of the traps like this, and called my wife in surprise to show her. That night, there was another daddy crawling around my Darlongtonias as I was watering them, and literally warned him not to end up like his buddy. Sure enough... the next morning... CHOMP. Gonner.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

This is an unedited, raw photo that captured a Japanese Tiger beetle (I believe that's what it is anyway) on a young sarracenia leucophylla that I acquired in January. This photo, among others, documents the strong attraction the beetles (and many insects) have toward sarracenia. Whilst this pitcher couldn't catch the brute, I have observed several of the large beetles inside large S. flava pitchers. It's comical how much leg-waving was needed to keep a grip! This is something this still image hints at. Enjoy!

oh man. so many fantastic entries. ya'll sure know how to make it tough on a guy.
i wish i could vote for every one of them.

thanks to FTC for hosting the contest, and especially all the people offering generous gifts to people around the globe.

heres my entry, VFT mini-bog trough.

compare the full size akai ryu (left) with some of the others and you can see its affected more heavily during dormancy than others.

edit to add: photo taken on standard auto setting with a Kodak M1073is

Dionaea "B52"
Taken with Casio Exilim

My B52 with a freshly caught Crane Fly. The legs were still twitching when I saw this! You can also see a leg sticking out of the trap in the top left corner. That one was caught the same night...
