Is it ok to move my Fly Trap from indoors to outdoors and vice versa?
written by Jon, May 13, 2009
I got a Fly Trap for a b-day present back in January this year, its still in the container it came in and it survived Canada's winter haha, I been taking care of it as best as possible, I'm new at this, But thinking that its spring now or well somewhat spring. I need to re pot it and put it outside i think, but my main question is could i have it outside for spring, summer and fall, then bring it back inside for the winter months which are the dormancy times, would that be ok, since our winters can be long and really cold. Could i keep doing that or what would you suggest, and any other info and tips would be great thanks. This is my first Venus Fly Trap too.

Thanks again
Matt

Congratulations on your plant surviving the winter! This is really a question for the forum, but yes, what you describe should work for your plant. You should definitely move it outside during the summer. For winter, you might have to do something special like a fridge dormancy or put it in an unheated garage or porch. You can read the dormancy article to find out more. And you should definitely join the forum to ask any more questions you have.

Hope to see you on the forum!
